COVID-19 Vaccine Information for Patients

Your health and safety are our priority. We encourage our patients to protect themselves and those around them. Please get vaccinated, get boosted, and wear a mask.

How Many Doses of the COVID-19 Vaccine Do I Need?

The FDA and CDC recommend that everyone age 12 and older get a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. People who are 50 and older are eligible to receive a second booster dose. A person’s immune protection from the vaccine tends to weaken over time, and booster doses can help train the immune system to continue recognizing the virus to protect the body against it. Read about booster shots.

If you have cancer now or have had cancer, you may need an additional primary COVID-19 vaccine dose beyond what is recommended for the general public, as well as a second booster shot. If you initially received the Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty®) vaccine or Moderna (Spikevax™) vaccine, this means you may need 5 total doses. If you initially received the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen (J&J) vaccine, this means you may need 4 total doses. Learn about how many total doses of the vaccine you should receive if you’ve had cancer.
