The constant focus on cancer and its treatment can be overwhelming and stressful. Sometimes you just need a break. At Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Charles Hallac Patient Recreation Center, you can take a breather in our expansive pavilion space or on our outdoor terrace.

We offer adult patients and their guests a wide range of activities, including wellness services like chair yoga and meditation plus crafting projects like painting and jewelry making. A number of craft projects are available for patients to do in their rooms. We also have computers, toys, and plenty of books and magazines for you to peruse.

The Charles Hallac Patient Recreation Center often hosts bingo, group Scrabble games, and Las Vegas Nights (with roulette, blackjack, and poker) to encourage conversation and connections. Live performances by students from the Juilliard School, the Mannes School of Music, the Gotham Comedy Foundation, and other world-class organizations similarly draw lots of visitors.

A Sanctuary from the Hospital Routine

Many people visit our light-filled pavilion just to get away from it all, enjoy the view, meet with family and friends in relaxed surroundings, contribute to the eternal jigsaw puzzle, play pool, or read a book.
