In introductory remarks to a workshop on integrative therapies in cancer care, MSK breast medical oncologist and acupuncturist Ting Bao discusses the role of nonpharmacologic therapies such as acupuncture, massage, mind-body techniques, dietary supplements, and physical activity in complementing mainstream cancer care. She introduces various MSK specialists who offer further perspectives on the benefits of these therapies — which can lessen the severity of treatment side effects such as pain, hot flashes, fatigue, anxiety, and lymphedema — for people with cancer.
