Can I have prostate cancer without symptoms?
Many people with prostate cancer do not notice any symptoms. Often, the first sign of prostate problems is found during a routine screening exam.
Here are some key signs to look for:
Urinary signs and symptoms
- Needing to urinate (pee) often.
- Unable to urinate.
- Needing to urinate more often during the night.
- Trouble starting or stopping the flow of urine.
Erection and ejaculation symptoms
- Painful ejaculation.
- Trouble having an erection (getting hard).
Lower body symptoms
- Often feeling pain or stiffness in the lower back, hips, or upper thighs.
Having these symptoms does not mean you have prostate cancer. Something else could be wrong with your prostate. You could have an enlarged prostate, a condition called benign prostatic hyperplasia that isn’t cancer.
